GEO content strategy

GEO content: articles written to be cited by AI

A GEO content strategy means publishing the pages that ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity will read, understand and cite when your buyers compare solutions in your market. Archipel produces 1 to 5 articles per week, in your voice, published and manually indexed in Google and Bing: it is the engine of your AI search optimization.

The principle

Why content is still the fuel of GEO

An AI only recommends what it has read. If your website does not clearly answer "which software for…?", "which agency in London for…?" or "X or Y, which one should I choose?", the engine will look for the answer elsewhere, often on your competitors’ sites or on ranking sites.

GEO content is not rebranded SEO content. It starts from the prompts in your GEO structure, targets buying questions rather than information questions, and uses the formats generative engines pick up most readily. SEO remains the foundation: Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot rely on pages that rank well in Google and Bing. GEO adds a way of writing that gets your content extracted, summarized and cited.

Formats

The formats AI engines cite

Our measurements show that generative engines keep picking up the same families of pages.

Listicles and rankings

"Top 10" and "best…" pages are the raw material of ChatGPT and Perplexity. Claude reads listicles and comparisons 77% of the time in our measurements.

Comparisons

"X vs Y", "alternatives to…", criteria tables: pages that settle a hesitation are the ones AI picks up at the moment of choice.

FAQs and direct answers

One question, one self-contained answer of two or three sentences that reuses the words of the question: the ideal format to be extracted as is.

Data and figures

Prices, timelines, volumes, study results: engines favor precise, verifiable statements over empty sentences.

Deep offer pages

One page per offer, per city, per use case. Google AI Overviews readily cites deep pages rather than home pages.

Reference guides

Definitions, methods, glossaries: they establish your brand as a source on the topics of your category.

Process

How we produce your GEO content

  1. 01

    Topic selection

Each topic starts from a tracked prompt where you are absent or poorly ranked, or from a source AI engines cite in your category.

  2. 02

    Structure

Outline, main question, direct answer up front, tables, FAQ, internal links: the page is designed to be read by a machine as much as by a human.

  3. 03

    Writing in your voice

An AI-assisted first draft, then a complete human rewrite to match your voice, vocabulary and positions, in English, French or other languages.

  4. 04

    Approval in the client portal

You get a notification, read the article in your client portal, request changes or approve in one click.

  5. 05

    Publishing and indexing

We publish, then submit each page by hand in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Bing matters: ChatGPT and Copilot rely on its index.

  6. 06

    Measurement

We track the effect of each article on your prompts in Profound or Peec AI, and adjust the next topics.

Client portal

A client portal so you stay in control

No more chasing shared documents. Your Archipel client portal brings all your content together in one place:

  • The editorial calendar: upcoming topics, week by week, with the target prompt.
  • The articles: each text, its versions and its status (in progress, to approve, published).
  • Notifications: you are alerted as soon as an article awaits your review.
  • Approval: you approve or comment directly, without back-and-forth over email or chat.

Cadence

How much content for which goal?

Indicative publishing cadence by situation
SituationRecommended cadenceEditorial priority
Low-competition category, one offer1 article per weekOffer pages, FAQs, direct comparisons
Several offers or several cities2 to 3 articles per weekOne page per offer and per city, listicles
Highly contested category, several countries or languages4 to 5 articles per weekBroad topic coverage, data, reference guides

Beyond your site

Content does not live only on your site

AI engines read your website, but above all what others say about you. Our measurements show that agencies’ own pages account for only 2% of Claude’s reads in our category. That is why a GEO content strategy extends into work on authority and citations: third-party rankings, Reddit, YouTube videos, LinkedIn articles.

It also relies on a technically readable website: pages rendered without JavaScript, structured data, llms.txt. See our technical GEO service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many GEO articles should you publish per week?
At Archipel, 1 to 5 GEO articles per week depending on how competitive your category is and the number of offers, cities and languages. The cadence is set after the GEO audit.
Are GEO articles written by AI?
The first draft is AI-assisted, then every article is fully rewritten by a human, in your voice. You approve everything before publication.
Which content formats are most cited by AI engines?
Listicles, comparisons, FAQs with direct answers, data-rich pages and deep offer pages. These are the formats ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity pick up most.
Why index your articles in Bing for AI search optimization?
Because ChatGPT and Copilot rely on the Bing index. A page missing from Bing has little chance of being cited by these engines, even if it ranks well in Google.
Who publishes the articles on our website?
Archipel publishes and manually indexes the articles in Google and Bing. You stay in control of every text: nothing is published without your approval in the client portal.
How long until an article is cited by ChatGPT?
It varies with indexing and competition; first results from a GEO program usually come within one to two months. We measure the effect of each article in your tracking tool.
